Pisa, more than just the leaning tower

Pisa is a bustling university city located in the heart of Tuscany. The city offers the opportunity to experience the richness of Italian history and culture and has lost none of its charm as a sanctuary for artists, writers, and poets since its golden era from the 9th to the 13th century.

The river Arno carves up in the historic centre of the city alongside colourful buildings and sets a magic mood by reflecting the street lanterns at night. On the Piazza dei Miracoli, famously described so by the poet Gabriele D’Annunzio, await the famous Leaning Tower, the Cathedral with its beautiful marble façade and the Baptistery in which Galileo Galilei was baptised.

The architecture of the Piazza dei Cavalieri and the small food markets tucked away just off the Piazza delle Vettovaglie add to the truly Italian vibe of the city.

Additionally, Pisa’s International Airport, close to the city’s centre, offers the possibility for weekend trips to other parts of Europe, such as Paris, in under two hours. Its excellent rail connection is also ideal for day trips to nearby Florence, Lucca, Siena, and the whole of Tuscany. Pisa’s favourable geographical location also makes it possible to spend a day by the neighbouring beaches.
