The Istituto Linguistico Mediterraneo, founded in Pisa in 1981, now operates with two locations, in Pisa and Viareggio.
The school offers a catalog of Italian language and culture, and training courses for foreign teachers with the aknowledgement of the Ministry of Education for both types of course.
As a registered agency of the Province of Pisa for the permanent adult education, the Istituto Linguistico Mediterraneo held three training courses to 36 immigrants and financed by the European Social Fund on behalf of The Provincial in 2003/2004.
Awards and institutional partnerships
The Istituto Linguistico Mediterraneo has operated, with the consent of the Ministry of Education since 1998, for the Italian language and culture courses will be for the training of foreign teachers of Italian.
In addition, the school is the agency of the Province of Pisa for the permanent adult education and training agency accredited by the Region of Tuscany.
The institute is a member dall’ASILS Linguistic Mediterranean (Association of Schools of Italian as a Second Language) that guarantees the quality of courses and services.
As part of the voluntary Mediterranean Institute of Linguistics has worked with the AFSAI (Association for the Education, Exchanges and Intercultural Activities) of Rome and the Association Shalom
Internationally, the school is recognized by CSN (Swedish National Agency for Higher Education) and the government of Hamburg (Germany) for the training of workers (Bildungsurlaub).
It also works for the summer programs with the University of New York BMCC.
The Istituto Linguistico Mediterraneo since 1992 has also worked with leading German institutions in the training of teachers of Italian: the Regierungspräsident Münster (government district that contains within it an analogue of our Education Authority), Consulates of Italy Cologne, Monaco Munich, Dortmund and Nuremberg, CO.AS.SC.IT (Italian Scholastic Assistance Committee) of Stuttgart, Akademie für Lehererfortbildung (Academy for teacher training), to Dillingen Donau, BIL – Berliner Institut für Lehrerfort- und und -weiterbildung Schulentwicklung (Berlin Institute for training and education of teachers and for school planning) of Berlin.
