PREPARATION COURSES FOR ADMISSION EXAMINATIONS TO ITALIAN UNIVERSITY

Faculties of:

Medicine and Surgery - Veterinary Medicine - Pharmacy - Chemistry - Biological and Natural Sciences - Engineering

For people who wish to attend Italian University, and for all those students who do not have the possibility of being admitted to University in their own countries, the Istituto Linguistico Mediterraneo has been organizing special preparation courses for admission examinations to Italian Universities since 1983.

This is particularly useful as countries which apply the rule of the "numerus clausus" in their Universities recognize the validity of periods of study at Italian Universities.

The constant increase in the number of students whishing to take the admission examination to Italian Universities ha brought to a more and more careful selection on the part of the Universities themselves in the last few years. Hence the necessity of accurate preparation, in order to tackle the entry test seriously and confidently and have a good chance of success.

The preparation courses of the Istituto Linguistico Mediterraneo, organized as illustred below, are given by teachers who hold degree or University specialization in their specific subjects; classes of no more than 15 students each allow for accurate presentation of the subject and relaxed practice of specific Italian terminology related to it.

Lessons take place form Mondays to Fridays and from 9 am to 1 pm, according to a carefully planne timetable covering all examination subjects. Each course aims at builing confience in the use of spoken Italian as well as at explaining all the basic elements of each scientific subject.

The school provides the student with:

  • textbooks for al the subjects covered by course;
  • assistance in the preparation of the application for the permit of stay and its presentation to Italian authorities;
  • assistance in seeking and booking accomodation in Pisa;
  • any other form of secretarial help in bureaucratic matters.

    Admission examination are normally held early in September, according to a caledar set every year by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and by Ministry of Scientific Research.

    The examination consists of two parts:
    1. a written and/or oral test aimed at verifying the level of proficiency in the Italian language;
    2. a multiple-choice written test based on scientific subjects syllabuses (e.g. for Medicine and Surgery: biology, anatomy, chemistry, phisics, mathematics).
