Top Events in Pisa

Are you interested in culture, music, traditions and festivals? Well, then sit back and relax, because we’ll tell you what the top events in Pisa are that you shouldn’t miss.

If you go on holiday during summer, then really fantastic cultural highlights wait for you.

First of all, the “Giugno Pisano” (June in Pisa), a month that is dedicated to the patron saint San Ranieri and includes three wonderful events: at “La Lumina” (June 16th) thousands of lights illuminate the old town of Pisa and on June 17th the historic rowing regatta on the Arno takes place. The great finale is the “Gioco del Ponte“, the “Bridge Game”, a medieval tradition in which costumed armies face each other at the Mezzo Bridge (last Saturday in June).

Also in June, you can attend the Regatta of the Maritime Republics, in which four former maritime republics, including Pisa, compete.

Another top event in Pisa, especially for fans of jazz and classical music, is the “Music under the Tower Festival” from late June to early July, with events at different squares of the city, organized by the Municipality of Pisa.

We would like to recommend the “Musicastrada Festival” to those who like to explore the surrounding areas: an international world music festival with concerts at various locations in the province of Pisa, which is on the program every year from the beginning of July to beginning/mid-August.

But even if you don’t have time during the summer months, that doesn’t mean you missed the top events in Pisa, because there are some other interesting events, such as the “Pisa Anima Mundi Festival” with free concerts at the Piazza dei Miracoli in September and October. Or take part in the “LUS – Experiments under the Tower”, where scientists and people interested in science come together at the Leaning Tower to carry out scientific experiments between October and December.

Last but not least, we would like to mention the “Pisan New Year”, which is celebrated with music and fireworks on March 25th, in accordance with a calendar used until 1749.

Finally, not in Pisa, but also very popular is the “Carnival of Viareggio“, which brings countless visitors to this nearby coastal town every February.

So, no matter in which time of the year you visit Tuscany, you can for sure enjoy an interesting cultural program with many top events in Pisa!
