FAQ

About the ILM School

Italian Lessons and Italian Courses

1) What are your business office hours?
From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

2) What are the directors hours?
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

3) How is the first day of school organized?

On the first day students are welcomed at school at 9 a.m.

We will give you an entry test to evaluate your Italian level and to place you in a class that suits your level.

After the test you will attend the first Italian lesson and if the class agrees, the students can do a tour of Pisa instead of the lesson in the classroom.

4) What is the average age of students?

During the year the ILM Italian Language School welcomes students of all ages to Pisa.

Usually in the summer months the majority of students are between 18 and 25 years old.  We often find that younger students prefer Viareggio while more mature students prefer Pisa.

We offer special programs of one or two weeks for more mature students or groups, these programs include italian lessons and cultural experiences.

5) What is your teaching method?

Our teaching method is structured to facilitate the development of the ability to communicate but without neglecting the study of grammatical structures.

One part of the Italian lesson is focused on grammar and then our teachers move on to a part focused on conversation.

Free Time in Pisa and Viareggio

1) What can I do in Pisa during my free time?

In Pisa you can visit famous monuments, historical buildings, archeological sites, museums and theatres. Nature lovers can explore the Park Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli which stretches along the coast between the provinces of Pisa and Lucca, in an area that was once characterized by lagoons and marshes: it is a lovely place to spend the day with family and to see many species of animals.

The area of Pisa is also popular for its thermal resorts thanks to the wealth of thermal water springs.

Each month the city Pisa offers many cultural and folk events.

Pisa is in a good location, well connected to other main Italian cities so is the perfect base to discover Italy!

2) What can I do in Viareggio during my free time?

Viareggio is considered the pearl of the Versilia for its particular landscape:the sea on one side and the mountains on the other.
Viareggio is an ideal destination for a relaxing holiday:  during the day you can relax on the beach or walk along the beautiful promenade eating ice-cream or doing some shopping. In the evening there are lots of opportunities for fun and entertainment.

In summer for those who enjoy Opera  there is a music festival, The Puccini Festival that takes place in Torre del Lago, where Giacomo Puccini lived for over thirty years, composing many of his masterpieces.
